An Overview of Artificial Intelligence Artificial Intelligence, a concept that would make possible our most remote dreams, specially for housewives. Would not it be interesting to know what is this marvelous thing that is going to make our dreams come true? I think it is. AI(Artificial Intelligence) is a fairly new field in Computer Science, my subject, which I found very interesting. AI it is not a well defined concept yet, which it is not a surprise for me, considering that is a very new term and that it contains a word that is has not been well defined either. Through the years, psychologist have come up with many different concept for what intelligence is; some of them have become obsolete with the years, but there are a few†¦show more content†¦In contrast, it is the business of using computations to make machines act more intelligently or to somehow amplify human intelligence. Any techniques can be used by a program to so something intelligent. The term was first introduced by John McCarthy in 1956 at a con ference at Dartmounth College. It was only a decade ago that Larry Tester suggested that AI be defined to be a field in Computer Science because before it was usually closely related to computational methods. For only 47 years has this term been around, and only ten of those 47 years have scientific actually dedicated to develop it. So it is acceptable that computer experts have not been able to agree in a definition yet, after all, the concept of intelligence has been around for a couple of decades and psychologist have not completely agreed in it is definition yet. Todays technology is not advanced enough to provide us with something that can completely fulfill the previous definition because otherwise, we will be already enjoying robobuttler, and other machines capable of understanding human language, seeing and reacting to what they see the same way a person does. In other words, we will be living in a world similar to the one described in the Jetsons cartoon; would not that be wonderful? --a dream for now.
